Character Breakfast

Our morning with the Characters was great! It was so much fun to watch the kids....and adults. Some of the younger kids were a little bit nervous at first, but they warmed up pretty quick. It was so much fun!

San Diego Zoo

First stop on our trip was the San Diego Zoo. It was a lot of fun, and neither Austin or I had been to the zoo in years. I'm not sure why we didn't take more pictures than we did.

At the zoo you can feed the giraffes....so here are some pictures of some of the kids feeding the giraffes.

Owen & Irene
Cameron & Erik
Hannah & ErikGriffin
Jolene & Breanne
We took this picture on the sky ride across the park. I was incredibly nervous because I'm so afraid of heights. Austin kept teasing me because I kept telling him to hold still. We had a ton of fun at the zoo!

Good news everybody....a movie trailer just came on tv about valentines day movie coming out. My cute husband just asked if Valentines was on the 12th. I said no. His next guess was the 3rd.

Wish me luck!

Christmas 2008

I decided before I put the pictures from Christmas 2009 I needed to add Christmas 2008....then I found out I don't have any pictures from Christmas 2008. Kind of sad. So instead I decided I would document one of our amazing Christmas gifts from 2008 since I hadn't already. So the Jenkins family California trip will be my next undertaking.

Stake Conference

Today we went to Stake Conference....It was very good. The main message I kept getting involved families and being sealed together forever. Uncle Rick (President Tanner) spoke and did such an awesome job. He told several stories I had never heard. One in particular was very sweet. He talked about his mother....my cute grandma tanner and what an amazing mother she is. He specifically remembered being small (about 4 years) playing outside with a toy he was extremely excited about. He said grandma came out and sat with him. He said she wasn't reading a book or magazine, talking on the phone, writing things down, or listening to music....she was just outside with him. That really touched me. Austin and I talked during (just for a quick second) and afterwards about how we wished Grandma and Grandpa Tanner could have been there. I am so grateful for all those we have in our lives who are such amazing examples.

Elder Natress was the concluding speaker. He told a particular story that I thought was awesome. He talked about his mother reading the Book of Mormon to him and his siblings every day. One day as a teenager he said to her, "You know I'm not listening to you." He said she stopped and told him that Marion G. Romney had once said if you read to your children from the Book of Mormon every day you will not lose them. Then his mother said to him, "I'm not going to lose you."

We are so grateful for so many awesome examples of motherhood and fatherhood in our lives....and can't wait to have an eternal family of our own.

Well today is our tenth day in Idaho. It's been different and weird to get used to a new city. Austin has had an interesting time getting used to a new work environment, but has enjoyed everything so far and even spent 50 hours last week on a hand throw garbage truck picking up garbage and Christmas trees. So far this week he has been in the office which has been fun for me since I have been able to take him lunch everyday. Nothing glamorous and we just sit in the car in the parking lot and eat, but it definitely breaks up my days. Also I can honestly say for the first time in our marriage I have been super on top of laundry, dishes, cleaning and organizing. Since I don't have really anything to do I just keep cleaning things. I think I have done at least one load of laundry everyday since we've been here (even if the load I put in wouldn't really constitute as a load). We just figured out our internet yesterday and so now I can at least check my email from home. I will get some pictures of our apartment soon, I know my sisters want to know what our condo looks like....We love and miss everyone!

Allied Waste & Idaho.....the final countdown.

A couple of weeks ago we traveled up to Boise to find a place to live. We had a list of apartments and felt like we were all ready to search it out. Luckily I have awesome aunts and uncles who had already scoped things out for us. My aunt Mari sent us a couple of places to look at, one was a great little condo in Eagle just north of Boise. After we looked there we went to what seemed like apartment after apartment.....we kept comparing them to the condo and nothing really seemed to work out like the condo deal. So our new home will be in Eagle, Idaho. On our way back to Plain City I had Austin go to the condo and then pretend like he'd be driving to work so we would know how long it would take. It's only eight miles....which will be a much shorter commute than either of us have had in a long time (driving to Salt Lake gets old real fast!).

All the trucks

This picture didn't turn out great....but I tried three times.

Thanks to Ken & Mari and Rick & Sherri for letting us stay with you, for the amazing food, fun games and great conversation while we were up there. We had a blast with you guys and are so excited.....hopefully you wont get sick of us anytime soon.

Piano Lessons

A couple of weeks ago I was at Jordie and Steve's practicing the piano for the ward Christmas party later that night....the primary had a little program and I needed to run through the songs. Deacon woke up from his nap and wanted to sit on my lap.....so we practiced together. He even plunked some keys. Very fun!

Sadly the piano my parents gave me for graduation will have to stay in Utah. It is way to big and heavy to take with us to Idaho. Austin is positive Matt is the only one who can help him move it....and it gives me anxiety every time they do....either the piano is going to break or one of them is going to break their backs. Thanks for moving it several times all ready Matt!
Thanks to Jordie and Steve it will just stay at their house for now.
