Pillow Talk

Last night when I finally finished reading and turned of my lamp to go to sleep I was surprised when Austin sat up and opened his eyes and started talking to me. He had been asleep for at least an hour and a half. Then he laid back down and I thought he was back asleep. Then he said, "What are all these containers?"

Thinking he was all the way awake I asked, "What?"

"What are all these containers? Are these front loads that need to be fixed?"

I burst out laughing realizing he was talking about work and garbage cans in his sleep. I knew he talked in his sleep......but usually it didn't make a whole lot of sense. He has been telling me lately that all he can think about is work. I guess he wasn't kidding.

I have found that there is nothing more fun than watching my husband watch wipeout.

I promise.......try it.

Sunday night I got a call from my little sister Kelsee telling me there had been a tornado in Billings, MT. She and Tyler had been out at my parent's house for fathers day (poor dad only had two people there on fathers day.....sorry daddy, we love you!) anyways, there was a storm warning scrolled across the screen. They changed the channel to the local news and they were surprised to see a tornado had hit the area, there was massive flooding and hail, and that the tornado had ripped the roof of the Metra Event Park.

Kelsee and Tyler jumped in the car and headed home since their house was only 5 miles from the Metra. Plus they are moving out in a week and what a bummer it would be to have your house flooded a week before you move out!

Tyler's mom and sister were also traveling home from a basketball tournament and were called and told by friends to get off the road and under shelter. The friends' windshield and back window had been completely busted by baseball sized hail. Kelsee told me the next day she had walked out onto their lawn and found huge divots in the lawn from the hail.

Going from an 8 hour work day to a 12 hour work day takes a toll......

You find yourself sleeping in odd positions, in odd places, whenever you can.

Austin works so hard and I am so grateful for everything he does for us.

Sweet Husband

At the end of April I took an impromptu trip to Montana. It was just a nice quick trip. Pedicures with mom, riding horses with Emma, hanging out with Kelsee while Tyler was bear hunting, and just relaxing.

But it was fabulous to come home from the airport to this......

Austin bought me these beautiful roses (informing me of his surprise at how much cheaper flowers are when it isn't a holiday......love him).

The card was also cute. It says:

Sure, I've missed people before.....

but never to the point of buying cards with sad dogs on them.

It's always nice to know that I have a husband that would do anything for me....even if that means call and book a flight for the next day for a distraught wife. Telling her just to take a few days and relax and hang out with her parents.

Even when things get hard or there are trials and struggles it's always nice to have a best friend to back you up.

My mom had traveled down to be with Whitney a week before Dean was born, and my dad was going to be leaving on a fishing trip with some friends, and wouldn't be able to see mom until he got back. So he decided to head down to Alpine so he could see my mom before he went. He left just in time and was able to go strait to the hospital to meet his new grandson.

In the right place, at the right time....

About two months ago Austin and I were driving down the road and happened to stop at a light right by our house. I looked out Austin's window and saw two people running towards the intersection across the grass. I couldn't figure out where they were running off to. Then it happened...

I had to take a picture of these high school kids switching the Papa Murphy's pizza costume. The Papa Murphy's is brand new in the strip mall here. I guess I was just super excited because I've never actually seen the switch off before. Plus it reminded me of my hilarious friend from high school, the one and only Mike Kawabata. I still remember him sitting in front of me in English and turning around to tell me that he was going to be the sandwich outside of the new Quiznos in North Ogden right after it opened up, he was so excited......remember high school? Good times!

4th of July - 2009

I decided I needed to document last year's 4th of July weekend before this year's came and went.

Last year we found out Whitney and Aaron would be going up to Montana over the 4th of July weekend. Aaron was going to be putting up a windmill at my parent's house. We decided I could go up with them. Austin couldn't get more time off work, and was going to stay at his parent's house and spend it in Plain City.

It ended up being a very fun weekend, but I wish Austin and I could have spent it together. I didn't end up taking very many pictures but they few I have turned out fun.

Every year there is a huge 3 day rodeo in Red Lodge called the Home of Champions Rodeo. After reading about it it is called that because a lot of people who have been NFR champions were raised in or are from the Red Lodge area. Along with the 3 day rodeo there is also a parade each morning. It gets bigger each day and there are more and more floats. It was so much fun. My mom and I went into town each morning to watch since Emma was also in the parade. I was so surprised by the final parade. I don't think I have ever sat at a parade as long. It was very fun.

I was so surprised the Budweiser horses would make an appearance in such a small town. However I was told they are there every year.....and they were also there all 3 days of the parade. It was very cool since we had just seen them at Sea World a couple of months earlier with the Jenkins' Family.

I loved this guy....he followed the Budweiser caravan with his ponies and Bud Light.
I was able to go to the rodeo all three nights and watch Emma and all the flag girls. It was super fun to watch her. Rain and all the other horses were a little bit jittery the first night when the announcer would talk in the loud speakers or the crowd would cheer, but after that they all did really well. I love watching Emma and her horses....maybe I'm trying to live vicariously through her. It was so much fun. The airport runway is right behind the grandstands. There are three big rodeos within a couple hours dirve of each other in Red Logde, Montana; Livingston, Montana; and Cody, Wyoming. The cowboys work deals out with each other and use each others horses, saddles, etc. and travel to all the rodeos by plane so they can make as much money as possible. We would watch small planes come and cowboys would jump out and hurry over to their event, then jump back in planes and fly on to the next rodeo.

The girls had black bands on their arm for a young boy named Cole. He had participated in 4-H with all the girls and had died tragically in a accidnet involving his horse the week before. One of the nights they dedicated the rodeo to him. It was very moving.

It was very fun to spend the 4th of July in Montana, but I don't think Austin and I will ever spend it apart on purpose. Kind of lame to not be with your best friend on such a fun holiday.
